Community Care:  Emergency Response Services (ERS)

It is a great comfort to be able to live independently, knowing that you are safe and secure in your own home and that help is always there when you need it. With the Emergency Response Services (ERS) program offered by Outreach Health Services, if you or someone you care about needs help at home anytime, day or night, receiving assistance is as simple as pressing a button.

ERS is a monitoring and communication system that offers new hope to the disabled and elderly homebound and can be a useful safety precaution for any household. Our ERS subscribers primarily are individuals whose age, mobility, health or general vulnerability indicates a need for 24-hour monitoring.

While at home, ERS clients wear a device that allows them to call for help in the event of an emergency by simply pushing a button. The system ensures immediate assistance by notifying pre-designated persons who then check on the client.

Use of the ERS has been shown to reduce anxiety, lessen the need and expense of in-home services, forestall entry into nursing homes or hospitals and allow for earlier release from the hospital.

Patients who qualify for Medicaid can receive the ERS service free of charge, depending on availability of funding. ERS is also available on a private pay basis. The cost is $30 a month with a $50 one time installation fee.
