Family Health Services: WIC (Women, Infants & Children)
WIC is a well respected, federally funded program that gives our families a healthy start by encouraging optimal nutrition during the critical stages of pregnancy and childhood development. WIC participants have access to many benefits, including nutrition education, supplemental foods, breastfeeding support and referrals. Children participants are invited to attend our Kids’ Kamp classes which offer hands on activities for children while they experience nutrition education and physical activity.
What are the benefits of the WIC program?
- Improved infant-feeding practices
- Improved dietary intake
- Premature births reduced
- Fetal death rates reduced
- Low birth weight reduced
- Long-term medical expenses reduced
